Our Maaki Bars frames are finished using high-quality Powder Coating to give them a premium look and help them stand up to everyday backyard life.
Powder coating is tough and durable — but like anything outdoors that kids climb on daily, it’s not indestructible. Over time, small marks, scratches and fading are a normal part of wear and tear.
What to expect
Powder coating is generally more scratch-resistant than standard paint, however it may scratch or mark if it comes into contact with:
● sharp objects
● other metal surfaces
● rough handling or heavy impact during transport/assembly
Cosmetic marks do not affect the strength or safety of the frame.
Cleaning & Care
To keep your bars looking fresh, we recommend cleaning powder-coated items no more than twice per year.
If you live in a higher-exposure environment (salt, sand, dust), the finish may show wear sooner.
How to clean:
1. Use mild soap + warm water
2. Wipe with a soft cloth or soft brush
3. Rinse and dry
4. Avoid harsh cleaners (they can damage the finish)
If the coating loses gloss:
Apply a thin layer of wax, let it dry, then buff off (like waxing a car).
Scratchers or marks on delivery
We do our best with packaging and handling, but on rare occasions items may arrive with scratches or marks.
What to do
If you notice marks on delivery:
● Take clear photos while the item is still in the opened box
● Do this before assembly
● Email the photos to us so we can assess the issue
Please check all parts before you start building. Once assembled, it may not be eligible for assessment.
Scratchers on parts already assembled
Once parts are assembled, we’re unable to provide recommendations, solutions, or compensation for scratches or marks.
Scratches can occur during assembly due to normal metal-to-metal contact and the nature of powder coating.
How to avoid scratches during assembly
● Read the assembly steps before starting
● Lay parts on a soft surface
● Check all parts before tightening
● Handle with care during slotting/joining
Grub screws
Grub screws used to secure parts may leave marks on the metal and powder coating. This is normal and expected, and can be touched up if desired.
Touch-Up Options
If you care about keeping your Maaki Bars looking brand new, we offer touch-up products available for purchase in our online store.
Our Forest Green and silver grey colour is also available in spray cans at major hardware/warehouse stores. If you need help matching the colour, contact us and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Powder Coating & Warranty (Important)
Powder coating is an aesthetic finish and does not affect structural integrity.
Because marks, scratches, dents and fading are a natural part of outdoor use, we do not offer compensation or warranty coverage for powder coating wear.
